Bercerita tentang seorang remaja bernama Kuzuryuu Yaichi yang merupakan pemain shogi terhebat dalam sejarah. Dia menyandang gelar “Ryuou” (Raja Naga). Suatu hari, seorang murid SD yang menyukai sekalishogi, Hinatsuru Ai muncul dan mengatakan bahwa Kuzuryuu pernah berjanji kepada dia untuk menjadi masternya. Dan itulah awal kisah unik hubungan dari master dan seorang murid dimulai.
